She tried to defend herself once when she was 11, and because of it her dad locked her in a house and caught it on fire. She lost one of her lungs to the smoke. She is a werewolf, but her body has still never worked to its full potential because of it. She may not ever shift, and has breathing problems. The pack doctor says she will not live to be any older that 20 at this rate.
