This is the translated version of the Spanish book "La Novia" (The Bride)

On the outskirts of the city of Bilbao, Djenaba and Fatu meet at a party and feel an immediate connection. Djenaba, a rebellious and determined young woman, is attracted to the kind and reserved Fatu.

However, she soon discovers that Fatu is engaged in a forced marriage to help her family in Guinea Bissau, a West African country of shared origin for both of them.

The story explores the difficulties these girls face in communities like Guinea Bissau, where homophobia is common. It also addresses forced marriage, something that is not so common but often goes unreported.

Despite cultural and family pressures, Djenaba and Fatu fight for their love and for the freedom of choice in a context that denies them those rights. "The Bride" is a moving story that highlights the importance of true love and freedom of choice, even in the midst of restrictive traditions.
