Hikaru is a young orphan of the Hidden Leaf Village and has always been treated as an outcast by the villages; he always wonders why and doesn't know anything about his family or where he came from. One day, he comes across a person who is the first to show him genuine kindness and vows to become a shinboi and gain the respect of the whole village. He then meets a young girl around his age, one snowy, and offers to walk her home. He does not once stop thinking about what she and, and years later, he meets that same girl in the academy and finds himself placed on the same team as her and two other boys.
