::Death Note::
Shadows of the Reikai
::L Lawliet x Reader Slow-Burn::

Reikai : Japanese for "Spirit Realm"

"And so it was that their meeting began the whip of a chain that could not be stopped, for neither knew the consequences of their joining, nor of the veils which they would hold the power to tear."

Did L unwittingly have a hand in the creation of the world's deadliest weapon of mass murder? Was Ryuk truly as bored as he always claimed when his book fell from beyond the veil? Perhaps Light was more than just the butt end of chance in the eyes of the Shinigami; a pawn on a much larger board that spanned the reaches of Life and Death - a board on which you are a piece. You, a no-one of little significance, a reject floating aimlessly through the American foster system that has no place in a world of such giants; but you're more than the simple pawn you look to be, because even a pawn may trade out for a knight.

Shadows of the Reikai is attempting to weave together the events of the LABB from Another Note, the Kira Investigation from the Death Note Anime, and a few select scenes from Death Note Relight into one cohesive idea since they all seem to be a bit disjointed from each other as they are in-canon. From pinning down an explanation for Beyond's Shinigami eyes, and giving Light's undead form some well-deserved action, to keeping Matt around for longer than 32 seconds of screen time (because how dare they introduce that character only to kill him off so quickly?), this book has been great fun to write so far, and I hope you have as much fun in reading it.

And in case you're interested in cheesy stuff, I've got a "theme song" for the book:

Oh right, and disclaimer stuff. Obviously, I don't own anything from Death Note, copyright stuff, blah blah blah, for unfortunately, I am not Tsugumi Ohba or Takeshi Obata, as confirmed by my shitty writing and cover art skills lol.

(Y/n) (l/n). What a person. I don't think anyone really knows what to call that enigma. Some say they're a freak. An unfathomable eccentric. Others think they're a no-good liar, or someone shrouded in mysteries. And many think that they're simply clever, for finding such an interesting way to get through life. Well, I think they're a work of art. (Y/n) is a master of the art of manipulation, and living proof that looks are deceiving. They get high off of risk and satisfaction from fooling people. A uniquely complex genius. At first glance, they seem like a charming, innocent person with a small frame and a fresh face and an aura that can make even the coldest of people fall under their spell. But the sugar in their voice is coated in poison. They're smarter than they let on, and they're a master of exploiting people. They tell a convincing lie and can fool even the most perceptive people into thinking they're an innocent, kindhearted person. But on the inside, they're a mad thrill seeker who would do anything for a good adrenaline rush. They take advantage of the people they win over and use them for their own entertainment. They don't care about conforming to society or living a 'normal' life, because what's the fun in that? Nobody's seen the real them. There's not one person they truly care about; who knows their true character nor person behind the mask they wear. They're a mystery in and of themselves, one that nobody can solve. Or so it seems. Unfortunately for them, the iconic detective L takes a special interest in them, and recruits them to Japan to work alongside him on the Kira case. (Y/n)'s goal is to win L over and make him their most powerful pawn, and his is to solve the mystery that is them. I wonder, who would win such a battle of wills? Choices, Bonds and Fate (DeathNote - LawLight) by samsonanddelilah4

Is everything that we do our fate ? Or is it our choices ? What are bonds ? How deep do they go ? It may seem like everything that we do is our fate, but it is not. It is our choices that determine our fate. Bonds are deep connections between people. They go beyond your current life, they are renewed in every life, even stronger than it was before. Almost like soulmates, isn't it ? Well, in the case of Light Yagami and L. Lawliet, it is indeed the case. Light and L are reincarnated, with different names but the same physical looks and lifestyles. Both are in their early twenties and joined the Metropolitan Police Department some years back. Now they are promoted to detective and work under Kana Yagami, Light's twin sister, in the homicide division. A prominent businessman, Alexander Kennedy, dies, apparently a suicide. The duo visit the crime scene of their very first case and quickly realize that something was off. He had no reason to suicide. Their simple case quickly turns deadly as the death note resurfaces and the deepest, darkest secrets of the world's most powerful countries are exposed, forcing Kana to turn to an old associate, Near, for help. As Near and Kana dig up the past, memories surface, causing tension between the two detectives who are steadily falling for each other. Will they be able to push aside their past and move on ? Will they finally acknowledge their feelings for each other ? Who is the new owner of the deathnote ? What are their motives ? Will they get drunk on its power like Kira before them? Updates every Wednesday or weekend. I do not own Death Note or any characters. I only own my OC, Kana Yagami and the plot.

Skye was just an ordinary human. One with an unfortunate life. Her mother was killed in an armed robbery when she was barely a year old. Her father turned to alcohol and smoking to hide his pain. As the years went he began to abuse her and was eventually murdered as well by a burgler. She was sent to Wammy's House. As the only girl there, it was hard for her but she made a few friends and was very close with another boy. She stood out easily because of her white hair and small figure but it was mostly her eyes. She wasn't born with her white hair, it turned white from the torture and stress her father put her through. Her eyes were different. She was born with large, blood red eyes. Of course no one knew that she hadn't been born with white hair, not even the boy she was basically dating, except a boy little older than her named Lawliet. He was like a brother to her. Lawliet was given a caretaker named Watari and Skye, one named Yamato. She lived her life as normal as she could and climbed the ranks as a detective; even surpassing L, though she didn't know who he actually was. As it's well knows, shinigami liked to gamble to entertain themselves. The king himself gambled his own life and power on her and a few years before she went into Wammy's. The king bet his that she wouldn't risk her life to save a stranger and used his death note to put her in a situation that she could save a child's life by risking her own or continue walking and not give them a second glance. She saved the child and gained his death note, the shinigami eyes, healing and self-healing, the power to bring back to dead, and knowing whenever someone has been killed using a death note. She had not to try draw attention to herself, since others couldn't see the shinigami she talked to. As the shinigami queen it was hard to be normal. She traveled for cases and decided to dye her hair inky purple when she was in America. She returned to Japan to go to school and observe the Kira case.

High school is when it happened. Criminals start to die, and I start to be more careful of what I'm doing. But we all knew about the one who kills them all... Kira.... I don't believe the fact that he's a god like everyone says... What's more weird, other than Kira, is the fact that the top student in school, Light Yagami, wants to befriend me. College life is the next step in my life. After college I want to join the police force, work under cases and such. Kira is still going around, killing people, now starting to kill innocent people. Then, the person who I'm forced to sit with talks to me again... Light.. But I know that knowing Light... Makes me feel uneasy. Especially ever since I passed notes with him in high school. Ever since then, I saw something by his side at all times, a shinigami... Shinigami.. Gods of death... Then there's a notebook I noticed that Light had.. Death note... I think Light is Kira.. But then I meet L, a member of the group who's working on the Kira case, the best detective in Japan, the one person who hides his identity.... Can I tell him..? Can I trust him...? He seems to trust me enough to tell me that he's L. But there are a few things stuck in my head... Why did he offer me to help him? Why does he want me to help at all? Why does he want me by his side? Why does he want me to choose a letter as a name? Especially for broadcasting? L.... You care about me... Don't you? Or... Are you just trying to make me feel welcome..? This was originally going to have a character but then I decided to make it and L x Reader story. Your point of view will be written in first person, this is only because this is my first x reader story. But I hope you enjoy nonetheless. DISCLAIMER: I don't own anything from the anime Death Note, and I don't own you and your wonderful selves.
