Reach's fall was inevitable. No number of Spartans, frigates, or orbital stations could save it from the sheer might of the Covenant. Fortunately, the fall of Reach does not have to be in vain. Noble Team has an important mission that has no room for failure. Meanwhile, nearly the opposite is happening to a small Legion of Covenant forces, having found themselves at odds with the very pretense of the Covenant. Their questioning of the Great Journey has put them on a path that has lead to them seeking unusual allies.

This is an alternate history of Halo that doesn't change the general direction and major events, but adds a bit more flavor. My goal for this is to write a Halo story that has grounds in the official timeline while still remaining my own story and not entirely a rehash of the games and extended material.

Certain individuals that I particularly like will remain alive, while others will remain dead. Others still will survive as to further the plot of the story. I hope I can fit some Easter eggs in.

At first I thought I'd pick something a bit out of my comfort zone (so.... NOT SciFi for once...) to expand my horizon, but when I saw a prompt about time travel I was immediately inspired. Please keep in mind, all of this is WIP! The title, cover, and some of the content might change at any time... I have an outline and I worked hard to come up with a compelling and consistent story line, but due to the nature of the story (timey whimey stuff!) I might have to revise things a few times as I write. I'm grateful for any feedback and I hope you enjoy :)

An ordinary young man living an ordinary life finds his society crumbling apart at the seams due to an ever-intensifying plague of insurrection that seems to spread faster than it can be quelled. After joining the Marines to make a difference, to bring stability to his society, he soon realizes that he's no more than a minuscule cog in a very large machine. Harvest. A major farming colony at the edge of UNSC-controlled space goes offline. Just as Gray thinks he'll coast out his short-term service in the Corps, tragedy strikes, and a new player enters the field. Now Gray must desperately juggle the responsibilities of maintaining his relationship with the girl of his dreams, raising a future family, surviving the Covenant onslaught, and most of all: Keeping his humanity. After the Resonance Cascade, Black Mesa is the last place one would suspect to find love. There are aliens teleporting in to kill you, parasites latching onto your head- Black Ops killing not just the staff members but also the soldiers sent there to issue a complete forced gag order with bullets. ...But what happens if one of these opposing forces comes to terms with each other and, instead of killing each other, instead tries to find a way out in all the chaos that's unfolded? More so, what happens if said-forces become less professional and more drastic rather? Find out as "Jane Doe" stumbles into a desperate situation with HECU marine that she was supposed to stop. With a situation as dire as this one, even the marine can't help but trust the black op that tried to kill him and his buddies and join forces... [As per usual. I have nothing to do with the game's creation or the universe, but boy, am I old enough to know about Half-Life and the weird fanbase surrounding the franchise. Inspired by the recent anniversary update and the series "Shepard's Mind," I bring forth a parody series that hopefully will get some laughs. Of course, this'll carry some of the usual weight that I typically bring to my projects, too, however.]
