Oceans and sunsets have been holding Love together for some time now. Until it's her senior year in high school, without her mother. Her dad, Malibu and her friends are the only things that seem to be the only positive light in her life.

Love and her rich group op friends (heavy on the rich) have known each other for their whole lives. But what will happen when that dynamic will inevitably be disrupted?

Love knows this all too well and is trying to see past it by trying to make the best out of this whirlwind of a senior year.

Will she be able to ignore her problems at home, her anxieties, relationships and senior year?

(dialogue from the book)

Sometimes not reacting is enough reaction. Or how no response is a response. Something I probably need to learn.

I always have something to say about anything. That's why my dad calls me king. A little weird when you're in middle school and kids are already making fun of your name, which is Love by the way.

King Love, loves to be king. Basically.

Growing up in Malibu is a dream, except for the growing fear of having your house being burned down by the California fires. What's also a dream is having parents who are smart and have money. I'm going to be plain honest with you right now. I know I'm a spoiled brat sometimes, honestly I try not to be, but money makes a lot of things easier.

At least that's what my mother repeats after every story about her parents, my grandparents, who fled out of China to come to the oh so beautiful promised land of the United States of America. Just to live in the Bay Area and be proud that their daughter made it out of the Bay Area into Malibu with my dad. Even though they didn't like him when they started dating.
