In a world of Heroes, no one is equal. When faced with acts of terrorism every day, the world has crumbled to its knees, dependant on one thing, and one thing alone. Powers.
In city of Heart, people are doing ok. Ignoring the ridiculously rich, wealth is spread equally across civilians. They have a stable Hero system in place, where those with powers and abilities use them to protect and serve the community. At least, that's what Wilbur has been told his whole life.
In reality, things are far more dire than the Craft family claim. The Hero system is corrupt, allowing the rich to get richer. The population may appear to the thriving, but there are sinister intentions hiding below the surface.
A world with powers gave humanity one fatal flaw: trust in Heroes.
Wilbur's lived all his life surrounded by Heroes. Are his strange powers enough to stop his family, or will his own loyalty bring the city down in flames?

ABANDONED WORK Now posting this on Ao3 too. It's under the name CloudedInk so maybe you could stop by and say hi! Tommy, after leaving work is given a book and witnesses a fight between a villain named Mage and two heroes named Anaglyph and Warden. 2 years later, he starts learning magic, with Mage training him to become the new Tome user. Tommy must choose himself if he wishes to become a hero or a villain and chooses to become a vigilante to start off with. But meet a missing hero and his friend, he uncovers secrets about the heroes that he never knew. Tommy can use this to his advantage, hold it over the heroes heads and threaten to release everything. Can Tommy live in a world of superpower and people who've been in the industry longer than he has? With only magic? Words - 80,944 Chapters - 32/?? Note: writing will be all over the place as i'm still trying to stay to a plot line. It'll make zero sense btw. And near the end it starts moving slower since i've kinda lost motivation. Probably because i winged most of it and didn't make a script. Some characters personalities will be OOC as I didn't look into their personalities until halfway through the story T-T Many plot holes where i forget about something and contradict it at a later chapter.

Wilbur was a hero, the second best hero to be exact. And it was his job to protect everyone that resided in his beloved city. Everything was perfect for the hero, he had a lovely father and two brothers, he had his friends, and he even had a boyfriend who he loved more than life itself! Wilbur loved his work to keep his city safe, but there was always someone trying to prevent that. Sometimes it was large villains who killed and killed, other times it was a simple thief. Sometimes, it was a shapeshifting villain who liked scarring others and ruining lives. Sometimes it was a villain who helped unlock hidden powers yet was insane enough to fight in a burning, collapsing building. Because that night, Wilbur fought alongside a way-too-young-and-way-too-familiar vigilante and his family against a famous villain with an ability so powerful it seemed fake. The world was never have been ready for Shift in the first place, Shift was the villain who's identity was so secret no one had a single lead to go attempt to catch them. In a forgotten world full of heroes, villains, and vigilantes, a world that had neither a good or bad ending, or maybe no ending at all. Who knows? Wilbur was surprised that he noticed such a small thing, but he supposed it accounted for the surprise that he had noticed earlier. 'Oh, I prefer Wilbur if that's okay sir. My social worker always forgot to call me Wilbur and I stopped correcting him a while back.' He replied, choosing to ignore the feeling of anxiety at the realisation that was the most he had talked throughout their meeting. 'Alright mate. Oh, and please call me Phil. Sir makes me sound older than I actually am.' OR A fluff to angst to fluff adoption AU where Wilbur Soot gets adopted into the SBI household just before his 18th birthday after years in the foster system. Now, he must learn how to trust his newfound family and find that it's okay to be dependent on others. But after so many years of only relying on only himself, Wilbur struggles to do that. "Why?" Tommy sobbed, fingers clinging to the fabric of Philza's suit. Fat globs of tears fell down his cheeks and dripped onto his neck as he was forced down on the couch. "I don't want to be turned, please!" he cried, only for his words to be ignored as he was hoisted onto Philza's lap. Gentle fingers combed through his hair and words of comfort spewed from the vampires lips in a futile attempt to calm him. His tear-filled vision made out a hand that landed gently on his chin, lifting it up and exposing his neck. Not knowing what else to do, he screwed his eyes shut in cruel anticipation of what was to come. OR The SBI take a liking to a certain gremlin child and want him to be part of their vampire family.
