The word always seems to piss her off.
"Stalemate," Harry would always state after seeing Taylor drop her king just in front of his.
"I don't get it!" She fists the table furiously, moving the pieces slightly.
It has always been the same routine for the best friends Harry and Taylor. He knew that she was clearly confused on how the stalemate thing goes amd even assumes it as checkmate.
"It"s chess," Harry would always say, "you're gonna have to try harder." He says his usual words, chuckling as he says it.
The same routine each day, except when Taylor moves for college.
Maybe he's been check all his life.
