In this alternate future, the air quality is so poor that people no longer work for money and instead work for clean air. The Sensers are an elite group of people able to read the memory shifts that have been popping up across the Earth for 100s of years, pulling people into memories at random. Lin, one of the main characters, has an inconsistent talent for reading memory shifts. Meanwhile, his best friend and housemate Lin, is a Seer, a maligned group of people who claim to see aliens called The Visitors and can also read memory shifts. Lin and Janet happen upon a Visitor where the learn the truth about their reality, why it is the way it is, and embark on a journey with two Visitors - Amara and Bram - to see if they can stop the Crash.
