Illusions and Lies (A Super Smash Brothers fan fiction)
NOTICE: THIS STORY IS AN OLD DRAFT. It is currently in the process of being rewritten. For your sake (and mine) please go check out "ILLUSIONS AND LIES: REWRITE" on my profile. While I'm not stopping you from reading this- especially if you're impatient and want to know how the story goes- please do keep in mind that aspects of this story are unpolished in this book. "we thought we were special. turns out, we were wrong." A group of teenagers who live in a place known only as "The Compound" are led to believe that they are the last people on the planet, aside from their ever-present caretakers. The Caretakers study them and their abilities, never once letting them know of the thriving outside world. In the outside world, everybody has abilities, known as "Gifts." The oppressive government prevents people from using these Gifts properly. A faction of rebels is on the rise, determined to retrieve the children they lost to this cruel government and create a fairer world for all. "and we don't like being wrong..." Modern futuristic AU. This story will contain mature themes and triggering topics, such as somewhat detailed descriptions of blood and violence, suicide, depression, homophobia, child abuse, and death. This is not an Apocalypse
The world is changing, two years ago strange weather, various anomalies and strange creatures started appearing from nowhere all over the world. Some creatures were completely alien and others were familiar looking as if they'd stepped from myth and legend. What many of these creatures had in common however was their aggressive nature and predatory instinct. Things that go bump in the night, that shifting shadow in the dark alley way, the cracking branch right behind you. Nightmarish creatures now stalk the land. Monsters. That isn't the only change in a new world however, humans have also changed. Some unknown phenomenon has granted humanity access to incredible power. The very elements themselves can now be wielded by those willing to risk the dangers. Earth, wind, fire, water, suddenly magic has become possible in a modern world and there are many who are eager to develop and embrace their newfound power and help protect their fellow man from monsters. There are also many who are willing to make a profit from newfound opportunities this changing world provides. Unfortunately for our MC Jack, embracing newfound power and going out to valiantly battle monsters isn't quite as simple as most other people have it. He possesses the rare and not so sought after lightning element, considered the weakest element for certain reasons, pitied and looked down upon Jack is determined to become a successful monster hunter in a more and more dangerous world. A slow burn story with world building, dungeon delving, character progression, Litrpg elements and more. WARNING - The MC is not a Mary Sue, he is not super competent, or super powerful or super intelligent nor a paragon of virtue, just a normal guy in a not so normal situation and him growing to deal with it in his own way.

The Story follows a once human girl named Aira with almost no recollection of the memories of her old life. All she remembers is waking up in a dark space with a deep voice asking her for a wish before she reincarnated into her next life in a different world, a world of Sword and Magic called Krupia with many different races as its residents. "All my life i hated humans. They disgust me. They are the reason for our planets extinction with their stupid wars and foolish actions. Aiming to create a world of wealth and happiness by destroying it in the process... the irony. I can't stand being one of them any longer so i'll become their greatest nightmare and I know just the way to bring them the despair and horror they deserve. I'm no longer Aira. From now on I shall be called Zyra and you have the honor to adress me as your Queen." Follow Zyra in her new life as the Queen of her very own swarm.
