This was one of the weirdest chapters in the lives of myself and my coworkers: 1998, our company, Oacis Healthcare was bought by a large defense contractor, SAIC. It turned out that they had only one reason to buy us - to capture a large contract with Kaiser Health. When that didn't happen, we were a ship afloat at sea sans rudder. By this time, we were all fed up with SAIC, and practically the entire company quit. Thus began a great diaspora of Oacis, which changed many destinies.
