“Max, you’re dead…” the words seemed dry as Jake forced them out. He had faced the most supernatural things yet this seemed too hard for Jake to believe. “I was never dead. You had left me yet I still prodded among the living, looking for you. But you never came back” Max stated, a hint of indignation in his angelic, smooth voice. Jake could hear the faint hurt in his voice as he spoke.... Jake was never a regular teen. He had accepted that. He had agreed to a task that had blindly guided him to a terrifying series of events that drove him to love and fear his true self.....

It's like the whole world stopped. Everyone just stood there, not moving or breathing. The lights faded out and my lungs ached. I couldn't breathe. No matter if I gasped, nothing would come. Everything was a blur. In that moment, I knew that I just pissed off the wrong person, and I was dying. "I love you, L-" I gasped out before the whole world started to work again. But I wasn't there, I was dead.
