All has been lost. Pebblestar has achieved his goal, destroying NightClan and exterminating all its members, including Selenostar and Sunpaw. Shimmerpaw, suffering from amnesia caused by the horrors she experienced, has fled the forest and ventured far away from the place that was once her home.

Stormray and Silentdawn now inhabit the wasteland that was once their territory, racked with guilt and trauma from the massacre they survived. Alone and suffering, they struggle to survive each day.
