When alternates were first created, there were three main ones: Gabriel, the Intruder, and Killcode. While Gabriel and the Intruder destroy humanity and start a war, Killcode takes in people or alternates that are in danger and helps them but never grows attached. They know that they can't afford to get attached.

One day, however, five children arrive at Killcode's place and ask for a place to stay for a bit. Killcode was surprised and asked them what they were and was even more shocked by the result.

Bloodmoon/Ruby - type 2 alternate
Eclipse - type 1 alternate
Sun - human
Earth - human
Lunar - human turned alternate
Moon - half-human, half-alternate hybrid and Killcode's son

Suddenly roped into a war that they didn't want to be, Killcode is on the run with his children to ensure that they can have a good life. But the alternates and humans of this world won't let them escape, not when they have answers and contraband with them.
