Lord William looked at Elizabeth, his expression pained. "There's something else I need to tell you," he said, his voice low.

Elizabeth felt a sense of unease wash over her at his words. She had a feeling that she wasn't going to like what he was about to say.

"My mother has been pressuring me to marry Maryanne," Lord William continued, his eyes filled with sadness. "She's threatened to disown me if I don't."

Elizabeth felt her heart sink at his words. She had always known that Lady Margaret was a formidable woman, but she had never realized just how far she was willing to go to get what she wanted.

"I'm so sorry," she said, reaching out to take his hand. "That must be so hard for you."

Lord William nodded, his eyes filled with tears. "I don't know what to do," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I love you, Elizabeth, but I can't bear the thought of losing my family."

Elizabeth felt a sense of despair wash over her at his words. She had always known that their love was forbidden, but she had never realized just how difficult it would be to overcome the obstacles in their path.

Charlotte Austin's life was built on a foundation of success: a thriving career, a devoted girlfriend, and a grandmother who was her only remaining family - until she wasn't. When her grandmother's health fades, a forgotten promise resurfaces - one made long before Charlotte could grasp the weight of true commitment. A vow that binds her to the last person Charlotte would ever trust - and the very person she's spent her life avoiding. Engfa Waraha. The self-centered player from Charlotte's past. The tormentor who turned Charlotte's life into a battleground. The feeling was mutual. Charlotte saw Engfa as a superficial ideal - the last person who could ever understand the meaning of loyalty - and Engfa saw Charlotte as nothing more than the fake girl, the embodiment of everything she despised. But fate, it seems, has a way of turning everything upside down. In a single, fateful moment, everything they thought they knew about themselves and their futures shatters. Now bound by a promise neither of them fully understands, they're caught in an unavoidable web of secrets, betrayal, and a connection they can't escape. It all begins with a bitter vow - and neither of them could have anticipated where it would lead. ***** 🚫⚠️This story contains strong language, explicit sexual content, slow-burn romance, and heavy angst. "Emma, talk to me please." I asked as I gave the Savior her drink. "I left him." Surprised at her statement, I thought I was hearing things. "You left him? You left Killian?" "Yes, I left him" "Aww Emma". I sighed and then pulled my friend in for a hug. After a while, Emma had stopped crying, sat up, took a swig of her scotch then turned her face to look at me, she held my gaze with those green eyes. "I'm sorry Regina, you were the only person I wanted to come to. I hope you don't mind." "Emma, you're always welcome here you know that." My concern for Emma was deepening. "Do you want to talk?" I continued. "I don't love him, something happened recently that made me... ahh... made me be truthful to myself and I cannot continue to live this lie anymore." Emma took another swig of her drink. "But is he not your true love? I don't understand dear." Emma returned her eyes to confront my own chocolate colored globes, staring intently as if she was willing her eyes to speak, minutes passed before Emma verbally spoke again. "No Gina, he is not, and I don't want to fix our marriage, it has been a shamble from the start."
