In the magically suppressed city of Polfast smuggling is the way to get ahead, those who live underneath the city need things and the magical humanoid can collect those things. 
When Ashton Yarrow and Cerena St Claire discover an old siren's treasure,  Cerena employs her best smugglers, Grace Carroway and Dorian Worthington, to collect an amulet from a man you shouldn't mess with. Unknowingly they get caught in a messy race to find the treasure and called by the chance of a large profit Grace and Dorian agree to help for a share of the treasure. 

But will they be able to win the race?

He was frightening and breathtaking at the same time. "A mermaid, aye?" he questioned as his gaze trailed down the length of my body. Grabbing my arms with one hand, he caressed my face gently, his thumb grazing my parted lips before they went below my hair twirling a single piece. I struggled from underneath him when he let the hair graze my breast underneath my blackened hair. Grinning at me madly, my eyes narrowed distastefully as his hand touched my crimson scales, stroking the tail almost lovingly. "Is this how you repay your saviour, pirate?"
