It is the 41st Millennium and the Imperium of Man only knows war. Chaos threatens to topple it, aliens and Xenos come at it from all sides. There is only war. [Sequel to 'Aquila'] Following the routing of the Chaos Marine Hepharion and his warband on the planet of Pelamon, Caius and the Ultramarines of the 20th Tactical Squad make a hasty dash for the outpost world of Alamarri VIII in an attempt to save their brothers of the Imperial Fist who have been fortifying the world under mysterious orders from the Adeptus Administratum and the Adeptus Mechanicus.
