The 2022-2023 Film Journal Entry #23: "Empire of the Sun"

The twenty-third entry of the 2022-2023 Film Journal brings a work from director Steven Spielberg's filmography, "Empire of the Sun". Here, I recount the unique power of Spielberg's filmmaking in telling this semi-autobiographical tale which deeply affected me far, far more than I anticipated; stirring up old pains I thought had finally left me.
