Eighteen-year-old Cherish Armitage wakes from an accident that killed the last of her family and the only thing she can think about is how she'll rip the spine from the persons responsible for murdering them.
When she accidentally, on purpose kisses her best friend, Josh, she learns she's a vampire. Her crushing attraction to him is overwhelming and inappropriate since he's in a relationship with their other best friend. Being thrust into living quarters with Joshua doesn't help.
Her ancestors arrive with reminders that she is the last heir and offer details of their gruesome deaths as motivation to slaughter those responsible. Navigating life without her family is a constant battle and the person she wants to confide in the most is the person she must stay away from because centuries ago a curse was placed on her family that forbade them from falling in love. If you fall in love you die.
People demand she hands over a mysterious formula, and when they don't get what they want - because she has no clue what this formula is - those same people die.
Trying to quell her growing feelings for Josh and sucking down enough blood so her ever-present ancestors are pleased but not so much that she turns into an aggressive, hormone-raging vampire, again, is proving to be near impossible. But if she doesn't uncover the person responsible for her family's deaths, her ancestors will make her life worst than the hell it already is. And if she doesn't give up this formula, someone she cares about will die. And if her heart doesn't stop wishing for Josh none of the rest will matter because the love curse will kill her.
