Tools for Disaster

The date was July 23,2001 in the town Kearney , Nebraska the sun was shining and bringing along a cool breeze. Some families visited some of the towns beautiful National paks while others went fishing in the area and caught alot of fish. Farmers were even growing healthier crops. Today was so far turning out to be s great turn around from the disasterous week the people were having( or so they thought). Then all of a sudden clouds darkend the sky and the once peaceful breeze had turned into a wrecking ball as it smashed houses, work buildings and rode. People quickly started to run to safety with their hearts racing and screaming all the way.Now going down to a basement or cellar is great solution;only in this situation it wasnt.People who tried this ran into a big issue when their safe place was starting to glood. Many tried toescape but the water was rising to quick,so now they had to hope they were good swimmers.Many people tried to prey that it would stop and others tried to drive away,but it only got worse from here and there was no escaping.Eventualy all the water in the bottom level of the houses made its way to the top,and like a balloon filled with tomuch helium,mad ethe house burst.This of course cased the water to spread allthrouout the town sweeping up anything in its path.Eventually,enough water built up that the whole town looked like a lake that carried people,veicles,pets,animals,and even toys. How did this happen, and could it have all been avoided?
