A term used to describe a being who cannot be killed, or die of natural causes, such as God, Angels, Satan, the Devils. But they are only gifted with a long lifespan, with their bodies aging slowly as they themselves get older.
Now there is only one race of beings who are truly considered immortal,
The Deathless.
Beings who don't need to eat, drink, or even breathe and can live for eternity. They are the true beings who would be considered immortal, unless you know how to properly kill them.
