Things in the human kingdom of Glyswing were generally calm and peaceful. It had been well taken care of by its kings and queens for many years. The majority of people enjoyed well-paying jobs and could afford luxuries that were beyond the reach of other kingdoms. However, there were still homeless individuals who managed to go unnoticed by the King.
When a kingdom is as successful as Glyswing, it inevitably attracts jealous enemies from other realms. Elias had learned this early on when there was an assassination attempt that nearly cost him the kingdom. Despite having everything he could ever want as king, Elias felt a sense of incompleteness. He made the decision to acquire a hybrid pet, as they had become popular among the upper class.
Due to the presence of enemies, Elias was cautious about whom he placed his trust in. However, this particular hybrid caught his attention and quickly earned his trust. Nevertheless, the hybrid proved to be stubborn, unpredictable, and sly. They regularly eluded Elias's watchful eye, hiding objects and being excessively secretive, which made Elias uncomfortable. Yet, these qualities were also what drew him to the hybrid - the element of surprise and their ability to maintain silence.
