Sonic stumbles onto a portal that takes him into a strange world. Without knowing where he is, Sonic finds himself in the Mushroom Kingdom from the Mario franchise. Princess Peach offers him a room at her castle, where he meets Mario and discovers a world of adventure and wonder. Through their conversations, Sonic realizes that he has found a new friend and starts feeling at home in the Mushroom Kingdom. But friendship soon turns to love when Sonic discovers himself fascinated by the red plumber. Will he ever have the guts to tell Mario how he feels? And further more, will Mario respond to his feeling the same..?

Eggman has built a vortex to other universes in attempt to look for other energy or powers to try to harness and use to take over the world. But something goes wrong. The machine malfunctions, causing everything around it to get sucked in. Eggman escapes and Sonic's friends go after him. Sonic on the other hand starts getting sucked into the portal, he tries to escape but fails and is going across the multiverse trying to find his way back home.
