What if Elijah had found love years ago, but they were separated from each other because she didn't want anything bad to happen to him? 

This is what happened. Adaline Layana Versace was from an extremely respected family, but also one of the most feared of. If it wasn't the Mikaelson's, it was the Versace's. 

Elijah and Adaline met at the Mikaelson's ball given for the return of the family in Mystic Falls. Gentleman like he was, he wasn't blind to her eyes. His charisma, his voice... the way he was talking. He got her down to his feet quicker than anyone else could have. 

Of course though, Elijah never let anyone in. He didn't- couldn't want to. Yet... something into that beauty was mesmerizing. Her soothing voice or her Italian accent maybe. Her beauty, her grace or the elegance she was bringing in every room she was walking in. 

One day, both of the families went into a war in New Orleans making a lot of damages. Her secret revealed, she was scared she wouldn't be welcomed anymore in Elijah's life by his family, but they were trying to find out about why she didn't tell anyone. She didn't want to take her distance from him, but her father Luigi, made it clear. She had to listen... 

Many years later, she found herself in New Orleans again. Nothing had changed... except the power of the Mikaelson's. Elijah's class was more present than never. Her heart telling her to go back to him, but her brain to let him live his life.
