She becomes friends with Kyla when they room together at a basketball camp before school starts. Maya was able to witness firsthand the rival between the schools when her school teammate Amanda breaks Kyla wrist on a dirty play. This isn't the first incident between the two. At the camp Maya learns that her teammate Courtney is gay and has a crush on Kyla. Kyla and Courtney know each other, through a mutual friend named Ashley. Courtney confesses she has a crush on Kyla to Maya. Kyla has no idea and no clue Courtney is gay. As the school year goes on Kyla, Courtney, Maya and Ashley all get close. When love surfaces, one will have to make a decision if love is more important than a game. With every decision there is a consequence.
