After WW3 78% of the world became toxic with radiation due to atom bombs being released in the war. Now only some of America and Asia are left. A few small countries like Mexico, Hawaii and Australia. Now that most of the population is gone, America has come up with a new system, a new government to make the population sky rocket. In this new world if you want to make it, you must be beautiful. Women who were pregnant during the war had peculiar children. These children were normally blessed with beauty, but also unique features or abilities. These children are called the "Blessed". Odd eye colors are usually found on the Blessed.
Schools were built for simply beautiful children and the blessed. Even after the war, blessed children would randomly pop up though they were not conceived during the radiation crisis. After 17 years blessed children became even more rare.
These schools I've mentioned of are no normal schools. They are to teach children how to maintain beauty or powers and sharpen the mind. Not only do pretty children Get in, any child of high intelligence can also get in. In the story more is explained, I hope you enjoy!

Girls and boys are given necklaces at birth, to indicate whom they're meant to be with when they are around the age to marry. The necklaces grow warmer and warmer as the one whom they're meant to be with comes closer to where they are, and grows colder as they are farther away. Feralie York had received a purple heart necklace when she was born, and had lived with it for years, without having the slightest bit of warmth. Suddenly, she finally has a bit of warmth come from her necklace at the age of 18. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to actually meet him, since it was while walking down the street. In Martha's world, an alternative earth, the people follow the rules of 'The Grandmothers'. When you turn twenty five you are shelved, no longer allowed to date and forbidden from marrying. The earth is still recovering from the third world war. Resources are controlled by the Elites and the environment is polluted and many countries are damaged beyond repair. The population that survived the war has been ravaged by chemical weapons. The genders are out of balance. For over sixty years the birth rate of female babies has far outweighed their male counterparts. Women are resigned to the knowledge that if they are not married by the time they are twenty five that they never will be. They have limited choices once they are shelved. Martha chooses to go against the wishes of her family. She will spend the rest of her life taking care of her widowed Father as opposed to working and giving all her money to her younger female cousins to supplement their dowry. Fate and time has a different plan. Martha is drawn into a battle between The 19 and The Wild Roses. Two different factions each wanting to use and twist Martha for their own ambitions. (Currently being rewritten under a new name The Claimed) Everything changed when they came out of hiding, terror spread across the world as people began to question if our presidents and our global leaders lied to us and weren't from the same race. The Beasts blended in amongst us as if we were the same, except humans didn't have the same predatory instincts and we couldn't change our forms like they could. Soon after we learnt that we weren't the only species people began going missing. Some were unlucky and taken as something that the Beasts called a Mate that one word made fear spread throughout my veins, I would rather sell my soul than have one of them mutts chain me to them. Six months went by before the government, that was un-tainted by this vile race began to take action into their own hands contacting other countries and militaries causing the great war to happen, sending both my parents off to fight for our rights. Only one of them came back, two months was the longest we lasted before we were overpowered by them. Six years of living in this dysfunctional environment and my hatred had never dwindled. Some people still believed in god and had faith in him, I didn't know what I believed in but I prayed like everyone else that I would get through another day without hearing the soul crushing word 'Mate'. Stray Humans
It's been almost a hundred years since Earth's civilizations fell, leaving only ruins and memories. Long before the collapse, they began taking humans, but now, everyone knows who they are and they fear them. The few who manage to return from their captivity tell stories of how these creatures treat humans like animals or children, tending to them like pets or slaves. Most survivors live in hidden cities, avoiding the ancient ruined cities at all costs. But not Jace and his crew. As a group of Stray Humans, they've made the decaying cities their home, roaming the forgotten streets, never staying in one place for long, and bringing all their skills to the table. They are a family, working together to make sure those things, Aliens, never take another human as long as they are near. When the aliens of A.C.R. (Animal Care and Rescue) find a new group of humans wandering the ruins of a large city, they think it will be an easy capture. But they soon learn that these particular humans have more willpower than most. They dodge every trap, disappear around every bend, and even manage to take some of the already captured humans with them. The aliens pity these "little creatures"-they just don't want to leave their home, but Earth is falling apart at the seams, and they are determined to take the stubborn little humans to the safety of one of the mother planets. No matter the cost. Warning - This story may have -Self harm -Rape -Abuse -Suicidal thoughts and actions -Violence and gore -Uncomfortable scenes (If this isn't your first alien pet book, you know what I'm talking about)
