Everyone knows about the witches in Eugene, Oregon. How openly they practice witchcraft. How safe they felt since they had each other.

But when a witch's corpse is found hanging from a tree during the first week of fall semester, no one feels safe anymore.

Her best friend, Winona Martinez, begins to investigate the gruesome pattern targeting her peers across campus. In search of the culprit, she brings along the last person who saw her friend alive.

The silent guitarist, James Vedder.

As James and Winona become closer, questions start to fester. Why is James so reluctant to help Winona find who's responsible? Why do her parents constantly whisper behind Winona's back? Why has Winona's mother suddenly become quiet and reserved?

And why do these crimes resemble a similar pattern of murdered witches from almost 40 years ago?
