The Optimistic Patient And Colby Brock

Elaine Clark is 17, and lives in a hospital because she has stage three leukemia. Not only that, she's an orphan, her parents died when she was fifteen in a car accident that she was also in. After two years of living in a hospital and having foster parents come in and out of her life. She decides to run and finds herself back where she started. The emergency room. But something is different this time... she is sad, she hasn't been this sad in a while, but what is different? She sees a man next to her screaming in pain. And his worried and frantic friends try to console him the man has broken his back. She starts to realize she's not sad for him, she's not feeling in the slightest bit empathetic... she feels....lonely.
