I nodded at that thought and scanned the crowd again.

That's when our eyes connected as if pulled by a force greater than ourselves. That's also when I felt it. Everything seeming to click into place and my entire being that's been in fight or flight for so long crashed to a standstill.

I saw his eyes flicker down my body then meet mine again. Could feel my pulse quicken and heat flush my face, becoming self conscious of the raggedy outfit I wore today.

He smiled then, from across the the room, and my breath seemed to falter in rhythm. And then he got up and made his way through the crowd. . . Towards me.
