[PREVIEW ONLY] Jasper Van Terra's impending execution is the least of her problems. Death row doesn't mean much when you're already dying, and her best shot at finding a cure is another prisoner in the Shark Tank.

Of course, even after finding a way to counteract the serum in her veins, she still has to break out of the Shark Tank and into the place where it all began. More surprises wait on the other side. Skybreaker is still a dangerous opponent. And more powerful enemies beyond anything the Janus System has ever seen wait in the shadows.

As Jasper and her team gather more allies, they still face a growing number of threats, and countless obstacles stand between them and their ultimate goal: finally ending the rule of Governor Starr.

They were crushed to serve, protect, and aid people with the powers that were burned deep within their DNA. But some fires refuse to be extinguished. Two-Sixty-Eight is one of many male Artificial Humans - experiments grown in secret underneath the towering LGA Hospital. An ironic disguise. Though they are born with the bodies of teenagers, inside they are still children - innocent minds wrapped in weapons of flesh. But innocence is a liability and their creators waste no time crushing it. From the moment they open their eyes, the torment begins. Merciless training. Punishment disguised as progress. Commands barked by Suited and Armed men who demand perfection. Obey or bleed. There was no other option. But one man dares to care. Two-Sixty's caretaker, Joseph Collins, goes against protocol and whispers forbidden truths - trying to keep the human part of him alive. On the other side of the laboratory, the female AHs are spared no more mercy. Designed not for combat, but for something colder. Surrogacy. But behind locked doors, a flicker of resistance grows within Two-Sixty's heart. He gathers a handful of trusted AHs and begins to question, to hope, to dream of The Outside - a forbidden place, that if uttered, could result in Capital Punishment. And no one ever came back from that. They've endured the crushing long enough. It's foolish to yank a dog's ear too many times. Eventually, they will draw blood. Backed into a corner, the AHs bet everything on a dream never tasted: escape. But will they succeed or will the price of freedom be paid in blood? It only takes a spark to start a fire. And this spark is about to ignite hell.

'No, he didn't'. I was so shocked by the turn of events. Everything was going fine and then suddenly boom, everything turned upside down. I just couldn't believe this. What did he think of himself? 'Leave me alone.' I said firmly but his hold on me was so strong. I was struggling to get out of his bear hold but to no avail. 'Oh!! So, the poor lady thinks that I will leave her alone and just let her go free?' He had that evil laugh and boy, his breath stank. 'Man, you just signed your death warrant and I will do one favour on you.' No one messes with me. 'Ooooh, I am so scared that I almost peed my pants.' Again that idiotic laugh. I counted till 5 and then kicked right in his balls. I turned around and grabbed his hair from roots, jerked them so badly and then gave my hard elbow shot on his chin. Everything happened so fast for one moment he was standing and the other lying on floor wiggling. I charged at him with my cheetah speed, picked up a wooden rod and started hitting him wildly, 'You idiotic stinky breath was trying to steal my backpack. You are so dead.' 'Favour, favour, favour.' He was screaming in pain just after few seconds and was panting hard. I picked my paste from my bag and threw at him, 'Brush your teeth.' I was fuming. I turned around and saw him standing wide-eyed, 'Hi, I am Scarlett.' I smiled showing my 32 teeth. 'I am scared.' His look puzzled me. "Are you coming to bed firefly?" He says to me laying his hands over my waist joining me in looking over the city. "I want to look out for a little longer if that is alright?" I mumble hoping that he heard me anyways, I wasn't ready to walk into that bedroom, and I don't think I ever would be. "Of course, I'll be getting ready for bed, come in whenever you are ready." He says confidently and walks away leaving my waist cold something for which I am grateful. Especially when my mind burns with other more dangerous thoughts. The warmth that forever lingers in the air, never burning the skin, but always reminding about what is around us. I force air into my lungs feeling the unexpected warmth fill me. He stands in the room watching me even though he said he was getting ready for bed. He is worried about me, about me jumping. I have contemplated it I will admit, but he would stop me before I fell even two feet. I was stuck, and no one could save me. Not even myself, my fucking weak self. His presence is demanding no matter where we are, but right now I could sense everything about him, and I try to suppress the unwanted feelings that curl right under my skin. "Firefly? About done?" He calls out and I release my hand from the guard rail not realizing that as I looked at the lights that covered the shining city with the falling fire in the background that my subconscious was thinking about how nice it would be... how relieving it would be... to just fall. True freedom. I take a step back and wrap my hands together turning around to a fully clothed unchanged man and nod once. I could see the fear in his eyes that I would, he knows if he gave me the chance... I wasn't ready for this, but I had to survive. No matter what. Highest Ranks: #17 In Romance #5 in Soulmates

I see how people die. It only happens the first time I touch someone. A handshake. My arm brushing yours on the subway. All of it. So much noise, every day and all the time. Drives a girl crazy after a while. If there's no skin contact, my head belongs to me for a few more seconds each day. I've seen every scenario. Except for one. I've never played an active role in a death. That is, until now. Copyright © epicmishamigo 2019 July 25th 2019- October 8th 2019
