The Karadolex Galaxy is a vast, populated expanse featuring numerous livable worlds, diverse species, and various factions, each with its own territory. Ships travel through interdimensional rifts, enabling faster-than-light travel. The story picks up ten years after a long, devastating war between humans, the Seven Worlds of Rhyus, and the Vorcons of the Vorcon Empire. He protested the peace treaty, believing the Vorcons would rebuild and wage war again. The newly appointed Council of Seven, determined to end the war, dismissed Garen's concerns. Publicly ridiculed, he suddenly found himself alone. Many did not want to associate with him due to his public stance, even though many agreed with him. Standing alone and stripped of his command, Garen resigned and retreated to the remote world of Chiex to live a simple life in the wilderness near a small Camerian settlement. Garen's peace is shattered when his old rival, Vorcon Caul Malocktus, threatens the Camerian settlement. Forced to flee, Garen returns to Rhyus, the capital of the Seven Worlds, where his mentor requests his leadership on a mission. Garen must take a stealth ship into Vorcon territory to assess the threat posed by a new Vorcon weapon. Reuniting with old friends and facing former enemies, Garen discovers that much has changed.
