Claire Rogers, a 24 year old woman, lives in a small town in Colorado in 1955. She works as a secretary for a lawyer, Daniel Mason who is 30. Ms. Rogers is a smart and attractive young woman with a secretive past that she is trying to move on from.
Claire soon forms a bond with her handsome young married boss who obviously has some attraction to her. But she isn't going to let that get in her way, she isn't quite sure what her goal in life is but she knows that she has to benefit from every person she encounters.
Though the one person she does somewhat has trust in is her 78 year old neighbor, Mr. Stevens. A kind old man who listens to Claire as he tends his garden, trying to run away from his past too.
Claire's mission isn't very clear, not to anyone else and certainly not to herself. It's more of an investigation as she calls it...but she will not stop at anything to make her path clearer, never wanting to shed a tear or blood.
