A boy, Dernick, who has had an imaginary friend for two years until he is five, makes a deal with his imaginary friend, America, who leaves. Nine and a half years later she returns, and he realizes she isn't an imaginary friend, America is real. Along with many other 'fairy-tale' and 'mythical' creatures, America's existence isn't well known by anyone other than her kind and Dernick. When she has to take him away to keep him safe, he is reluctant to go with her, for he is leaving his family behind. She does things to make sure no one knows he's gone, and he receives a book from a mysterious woman. When many things are revealed to him through many encounters and the book, he reaches towards the end of his journey, the biggest secret of his life is reveled to him. Does he stay or run? If he stays, he will be hunted for the rest of his life. If he runs, the unspeakable will happen, and he could die, or worse.
