La familia de Leslie se rige por pensamientos arcaicos y anticuados, ideales que no son bien vistos en pleno siglo XXI, y es por ello, que la chica de 17 años vive reprimida del mundo. Su padre es un hombre tosco y estricto, la disciplina es una palabra que lo describe a la perfección. Sus hermanos, son una especie de títeres que se mueven a su mando y Leslie, ella es la pobre chica que está atrapada en un círculo machista y tóxico, que le hace daño. La vida de Leslie se resume a ella encerrada y contenida, sin amigos y sin vida social. No ha tenido novio jamás, nunca ha experimentado lo que una adolescente normal debería y eso la tiene frustrada y enojada de sobre manera, pero no puede hacer nada al respecto. Solo debe quedarse callada y soportar. Ella sabe que hay dos soluciones y solo una le parece factible: irse de casa para ir a la universidad. La otra, le parece de lo más inalcanzable. En su familia hay una tradición «una muy absurda debo decir» dónde básicamente para que pueda tener novio este debe ser aprobado por su padre, y eso para ella es casi imposible. Leslie vive con el temor de permanecer siempre en esa burbuja dónde nunca le hacen daño y dónde nunca interactúa con el mundo. Sin embargo, no será por mucho.
