“Well, we’re here” he said as we walked into the house.
The party was in full swing. There was dubstep playing loudly in the living room from a sound system that had subwoofers everywhere. LED lights were set up all along the lower floor and blinked and flickered to the beat. We walked deeper into the house and that was when I realized the scent of beer and cigarette smoke was lingering to everyone. A group of guys slurred curse words across the table at each other as they put money and nice jewelry in the middle of it. Noah took my hand and led me into the kitchen. There was a girl with gingery long hair, which she was twirling in her fingers, talking to a guy that I recognized as one of the members of our football team. Even though they sucked terribly, they still meant social success in the high school hierarchy.
Noah got two solo cups from the stack next to a keg of beer and filled them up. When he held one out to me I felt my stomach do a backflip - half from excitement, half from fear.
If you don’t take it he’ll think you’re boring, one side of my mind said. I swallowed a lump in my throat as I reached out towards the cup. As soon as my hand had a grip on it the other side of my mind set off an alarm in my mind, and screamed Stop it, run! I took a large gulp and smirked at Noah.
