Bucky Barnes befriended retired school librarian Joyce Franklin in Crossing Off the List. On a stay at her home he saw a painted self-portrait of her daughter, Hope, when she was a teenager. Feeling a connection to it, he was disheartened when their initial meeting didn't go well. Although he still wants to get to know her, if she's just as brittle as their initial meeting, will Bucky try to engage with a woman angry with how her life is going?
Can Bucky suspend his own tendencies to withdraw rather than try to connect with Hope?
Can Hope Franklin learn not to lash out emotionally rather than allow herself to love again?
Can Joyce be an effective bridge between the pair long enough for them to realize they may have something worth fighting for?
Welcome to My Broken Heart is the intertwined story of a man trying to find his way in a world that often confuses him and a woman whose previous impulsive decisions have led to heartbreak and self-recrimination. As they navigate their relationship, it is exposed to influences that are out of their control, threatening their chance at happiness together. Will love be enough?
