Laughter swirled like perfume in the air, mingling with the scent of lilacs and expensive champagne. The glow of string lights danced across clinking glasses and polished smiles. But Jade stood still, her spine straight, fingers numb beneath silk and diamonds. She saw him-Zion-before he saw her. The ice started then. A slow, creeping cold beneath her ribs. Her chest hollowed as she watched him laugh at something-her sister Jane just steps behind him. Her pulse thundered against her eardrums. She moved forward, heels silent on the stone. "Zion," she called, voice light, practiced, smooth as glass. "I didn't know you were here already." He turned. A flicker of surprise, then the familiar mask. "You were busy," he said. "I didn't want to interrupt." He leaned in to kiss her cheek. She tilted just enough to miss it. The air between them turned sharp. Bitter. "You should've still," she replied, eyes never leaving his. His jaw twitched. "You're being difficult," he muttered, only for her. She laughed-empty, brittle. Behind him, Jane laughed at something else. Jade leaned in, whispering silk-wrapped venom. "I guess I am." His fingers wrapped around her wrist. Too tight. The world narrowed. "Zion," she warned, smiling through her teeth. "Let go." »date started: July 8, 2023 »date ended:

She was broken. He was vengeance. Together, they might set the world on fire. Cassie thought love would save her. Instead, it trapped her-bruises hidden under apologies, silence where safety should've been. Then came Dante Navarro. Cold. Dangerous. Merciless. He didn't save her. He stole her. What started as revenge turns into something darker, something electric-something Cassie swore she'd never feel again. Because Cassie's done waiting for a hero. And Dante? He doesn't promise control. He promises he'll never hurt her like Jake- but he'll burn the world to ash before he lets anyone else try.
