In a world where money can buy you literal power. A young halfling is out on the run for a crime he (probably) didn't commit. Joined by what seems to be a dim-witted orc, the duo has to brave various forces craving a powerful artifact known as the 'Grand Baetylus', a piece of crystalized magic so big that it can supposedly manifest any wish a person wants- if they know how to use it. 
Although, one wonders, when given access to such power and money, what does one oft do with them?

A young elf takes up the task of hunting down a band of orc trespassers with the help of her centaur brother. When she stumbles into a pitfall, Meren finds an object: an amulet that gives strange new powers. Little does she know that an increasingly desperate young wizard is looking for the very same amulet and that their paths are destined to crisscross in a weave of chaotic magic... (This is a novella I wrote in '11 and it's one of my very first stories. My writing style has changed a lot since then, but I'm sharing this with some minor editing because it's the story that gave me a love of writing and for that it'll always hold a special place in my heart.
