Not very long after she was shot and killed on Space Colony Ark after saving her best friend Shadow the Hedgehog from being captured by G.U.N. Maria Robotnik (the granddaughter of Gerald Robotnik and the cousin of Dr. Eggman) was given another chance at life by her grandfather. While doing everything that he could to save his granddaughter's life, Maria's body was mysteriously changed from that of a human to that of a hedgehog-like Shadow the Hedgehog not very long after the experiment (which was a massive success) Gerald Robotnik sent Maria to Earth. Unfortunately, for Maria, something happened immediately after being sent to Earth and instead of heading to the same planet as her best friend, Maria was sent to Mobius, the home planet of the Mobians, especially Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends who Maria meets many years later. As time goes on, Maria Robotnik now going by the name Maria the Hedgehog, helps her new friends stop her cousin Doctor Ivo Robotnik a.k.a.
