He stared at the telephone, heart beating louder than ever, cheeks flushed crimson like rose. He licked his lips in anticipation. The almost erased number written on his palm which he kept well hidden while sneaking out of the dorm were shakily pressed down on the dial. From over the hoodie, he held the earpiece and counted the rings with his heartbeat increasing by each interval.
But she didn't pick up. As soon as the line cut, he slammed the earpiece back on the phone with his clappy palm still on it. Taking in a deep breath, he slowly released that.
She said she would know if he calls her from anywhere in the world. Within this short period of time in his training, he has already seen a lot of how it works. Right now her words seem nothing but an empty promise now.
Getting out of the phone booth, he stumbled upon his manager; exactly what he was afraid of.
