Mat is an ex-Hydra agent. Specifically, the only male to ever come through the Red Room. He has worked hard to bury his past and escape from Hydra, carving an ordinary life for himself in a quiet Queens neighbourhood. But when Hydra discovers the lie of his death and his past comes back to haunt him, he will find safety only with the people who would just as likely turn him over to the government as protect him. When the only person who ever stuck up for him, a certain Winter Soldier who might be falling for the ex-agent, is threatened, along with the rest of the world, Mat might have to dredge up a past he rather stayed dead and revive his old self. The White Widow might just be the only thing that can save the world.
