After resisting the influence of Alice, Mario found himself stumbled upon an abandoned town. Memories of his forgotten past incarnation begin to flood his mind as he wandered around in distress. He was alone, cold and hurt that his own brother abandoned him, but he refused to give up for Luigi's sake.
"There is still hope, I'm sure we'll get out of this cursed place. Just you wait Luigi, I won't disappoint you."
