Book 1 of the Duncan and Lilly saga.  In a magical universe, a young, orphaned boy deals with being thrown into the kids home at Pingle Flatts.  With very few memories of his younger childhood, Duncan has no one but himself to look out for, and very few who he can trust.  Fate has a way of putting obstacles, as well as guideposts in the path of people to help them develop in the direction that they're supposed to go.  Not everyone heeds the signs, and Duncan might be one of those too, but it's almost as if he is being led in a direction for a specific purpose.  The young Duncan is no stranger to conflict and seems to thrive when the world is upside down and everybody is out to get him.  He also doesn't let a direct affront slide ... it's all about balance. This is a living book of short stories that will grow over time. It may not all be in this first book of stories, but in follow-on tomes. These stories are all based in the universe of "Pearls of the Mother," the same universe from which the "Duncan and Lilly" stories live. Some of these stories may overlap, and some may be continuations of another, but they are all part of the same universe. I created these as part of my "World Building and Backstory" system, and I've come to love them just as much as the books. I hope you will, too. Every time a question came up while writing one story, I wrote another story to answer the question. I guess it really is true ... For in the greater realm of "Pearls of the Mother" ... each story is another Pearl, and each Pearl another story. :)
