paradox - Aemond Targaryen
22 parts Complete paradox - a seemingly absurd or contradictory statement or proposition which when investigated may prove to be well founded or true
"She's a bastard. She could never hope to take my son, Aemond Targaryen as her husband."
"Despite that, Alicent, she loves him. She is part Targaryen. Wed your son to my daughter, and we can keep the Targaryen bloodline pure."
- Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen to Queen Alicent Hightower
She left him once, a ten-year-old princess full of naivete about the world, full of hopes and dreams. Only once in that six-year period did she return, and she wasn't much older then.
But then, she returned for good. And when he'd seen how much she'd grown, something leapt within his chest. Something long dormant was awakened. Feelings that had never come to the surface in all of sixteen years of his life had come to the surface now.
After being mercilessly teased by his older brother and nephews, and barely regarded by his own father, and occasionally doted on by his mother, and adored by his sister - in her own strange way, he didn't really think that anyone loved him. Especially not after the accident that left him with a missing eye, an ugly scar and an eyepatch to show that he survived to tell the tale.
But she did.
Eleana Targaryen did.
And come hell or high water, no matter what came their way, the two of them would find their love - and they would either stand together... or fall together.
