The relationship between vampires and vampire hunters has always been a strained one, especially now that there has been an official 'truce' between the Senate and the Hunter's Association. That doesn't stop Elise from loving humans, and eventually falling in love with a hunter. 

Torn between her love of the human world and the pain of her past, she tries to keep people she knows are hunters nearby incase she ever loses control. When a certain gruff hunter enters her life, however, she finds she doesn't stick with him just to keep others safe. Learning to trust herself and others again, Elise falls in love with this man, who is determined to prove to himself that she's a monster.
