To Be Heard

Parents can ruin your life as quickly as they created it. However, for me, it's simultaneously slow and frustratingly fast. It's the little things that turn into big things. And the big things that you just can't do anything about. I can't be the only one helpless. I can't be the only one alone.

To Be Heard follows a teenage girl just trying to live through everything life throws at her.
Aven, a 17 year old girl, carries a deep sadness and anger inside of her. Lately, her past and present traumas have been pushing her over the edge. With a voice she sometimes can't silence, she butts heads with her unqualified parents, often getting into more trouble than it's worth. Whispers of sexual abuse memories haunt her. The unshakable want to be understood by the people around her leaves her feeling empty. Aven finds herself wanting to fast forward to a time where she's happy, living comfortably with her younger sister far away from her parents. But she's not there yet.
So for now, she survives.
