The Summer I Felt Pretty. by Moonlit_Novelist

Alex.. That's all I remembered that summer night 3 years ago.. It was my 19th birthday and I was celebrating at the beach house, like we always did. Together. This summer was different. This summer was magical.. However, All I could remember was the tanned skin, in my bed, the morning after, cursing under his breath, searching for his clothes. All I remembered was his first name, after I peeked at a message that lit up on his phone, asking "Where are you, Alex? It starts in an hour." I remember the day before, but due to the alcohol in my system, it still was a blur. All i remember was the steamyness we shared and that he was in a rush, saying absoluetly nothing. Until he was gone.. I have been to that beach house every birthday since.. It's like he vanished and was only a memory. He only existed that one day on my 19th birthday. The laughs, the sun, the warm fuzzy feeling. It was perfect. Until it was gone. Vanished. It was the only time I felt like me, warm fuzzy, in the beach I loved, the mysterious man I met just that morning at breakfast who I spent the entire day with, it was the first summer I felt like myself ironic enough, falling for a man who i just met, He made me feel alive more than ever. He sent a spark in me. It was the first and only summer, I felt pretty inside AND out. Until I saw him.. 10 feet away from me. A beautiful woman attached to his hip, arm around her and PREGNANT. My world crashes around me and I can't breathe.

I look up at him, his face nothing but a hazy memory. His head is tilted down towards me and I think about how odd it must be for him too. If we kissed, would we find each other's lips? Would it be as natural as breathing? He's mere inches from me and just the presence of his body is suffocating. I don't even have to see his face to know how well he makes my body react. Goosebumps trickling down my arms, and the hairs on the back of my neck rising like sunflowers facing the sun. It's as if I can really see his face. His features and the looks he gives. It's so familiar, so in-tune with me, that I feel like I've always seen it. I can feel his eyes set on me, my figure under his gaze. I can feel the tension in the air and I'm not even sure if I'm breathing. "That necklace around your neck," he scoffs. "What about it?" I ask, my voice low. "I've seen it every single time I've seen you and it drives me insane. It's the one thing I can see below your face." Something clicks into place for me. The puzzle pieces align, and I feel alive. "Then take it off and put your hand there, I can wear that instead," I grin. __ Scarlett Moore. (Updates: Everyday) "You sleep with me or on the streets, choice is yours." "Alright then, the streets it is." I took a step towards the door but his hands latched onto my hand and I was suddenly pulled into his arms. "You're not going to step out of this house." "I am not going to sleep with you." I gave him a shove but he didn't bulge. "I never will." "You never will?" He asked pulling me till I completely fell on him. "Think again Roe, your sister... and your uncle and aunt." All bravardo left me and dread settled in my mind. "I can make a phone call and make them pay for your decisions." He smiled as if on victory as teares brimmed my eyes. "You wouldn't." It came out as a whisper even before i could stop. His smile widened as he leaned down. "Try me." He whispered and a shudder ran down my spine. "You're a monster." The water work started even when I didn't want to cry infront of this man. "Yes, I am a monster. The kind that people warn you to stay away from but you're in my path, get used to listening than crossing me every chance you get." "Never." If you'd asked me a year ago, I would've said Seoul was the heart of my dreams, a place where stories and inspiration come to life. But now, it feels more like a city of unfinished sentences, where people drift in and out, leaving me with questions I can't answer. There's one face I keep seeing, like a familiar word just out of reach, each encounter a reminder of something I'm missing but can't name. We cross paths again and again, and each time, I wonder if it's fate... or just another empty promise. The city moves forward, while I stand here, longing for something I'm not even sure I'll ever find. Maybe it's time for a new chapter, a change. Or maybe... maybe it's time to let go. __________________________________________________________________________________ Eunbyeol is an aspiring writer living in the bustling city of Seoul. After quitting university and feeling stalled in her writing, the city now feels more like a maze of lost moments and empty promises. She searches for a spark to bring her writing back to life. When she decides to leave the busy streets of Seoul for a quiet retreat, Eunbyeol isn't looking for love or connection only a bit of peace. But fate has other plans. She keeps crossing paths with a stranger, a man who seems familiar yet elusive. As their paths continue to intertwine, Eunbyeol finds herself inexplicably drawn to him, feeling the weight of something unfinished each time they part. __________________________________________________________________________________ This is my first ever Story AHHHHHHH I'll try to update regularly but I just started an internship in Vietnam so I don't know how drained I'll be after work -.- Also english is not my first language so be aware of some typos, I'll try to avoid them but some just slip through ^^ (I'm from Germany)
