"Don't leave me out, Daniel!" Carter shouted behind me and that's when I stopped.
"Don't leave you out?" I shouted back, turning on my heel to look at him. "Don't leave you out of my life, Carter!" I was making my way back to him. "Like you did with me? All school year?"
"That's not fair," Carter said and I knew he was now starting to feel my pain.
Good.
"So that's not fair to you?" I questioned, now with my voice at a reasonable volume because of how close we were now. "Ignored my text. Ignored my calls like I was a complete stranger to you? Then you come back, asking to be in my life again like I wasn't fucking hurting! That's not fair to you?"
"I wanted to text you, Daniel."
"But you didn't," I snapped and hated myself for starting to cry. "You didn't, Carter. You didn't text me back. You never called me back. You just left. And you didn't come back."
