Gorilla trekking in Uganda is only allowed for an hour of viewing, but you could need more time with the mountain gorillas. Mountain gorillas are accustomed to being in the presence of humans for only a few hours. This is done so they may be left alone to continue performing daily tasks including eating, grooming, relaxing, and other things.

What Exactly Is Gorilla Habituation?
Gorilla habituation is the process of gradually acclimating wild Mountain Gorillas to the presence and sight of humans for the benefit of care, study, and conservation. By participating in the gorilla habituation experience, visitors can now participate in this process.
Gorilla habituation permits are tickets that let you track semi-habituated mountain gorillas to acclimate them to human presence without changing their character. Only four trekkers per day are permitted to habituate gorillas.

How long does gorilla habituation take?
Only four hours are permitted with the mountain gorillas when you find them while on gorilla habituation progress. Because they have not yet become completely accustomed to human presence, mountain gorillas hiding during gorilla habituation should not surprise you.
The mountain gorillas' habituation period is unknown since they continue to roam aimlessly around the forest because they are wild creatures who must find their own sustenance.
You'll need to exercise some patience and adhere to the instructions and guidelines provided during the briefing.
