Being Second

Ever since my literal conception, I've always been second. No matter what I do I've always come second to my older sister.

Second in the minds of my parents.

Second in the minds of all the people at my school.

And second to anyone who has ever heard of the Bauregaurd family.

In all my life, I've never been first for anyone.

Acaylie "Caylie" just graduated college and is loving the freedom that comes along with being an adult. When she graduated high school, she moved out of her parents house, went to a University across the country, and never looked back.

She had no intention of going back to that dreadful southern plantation. But her plans changed when her sister called her to share the happy news. She's getting married.

Caylie didn't want to see her sister walk down the isle, but she was forced to return when her father threatened to take away his support of her going to grad school. Not being able to afford getting her Master's degree any other way, Caylie agrees to come down and "enjoy" the festivities. But just because she was being forced to make an aperance, didn't mean she had to stay the entire time.

Her plan was to show up, wish her sister and the husband-to-be a happy life, and then get the hell out of Dodge. But her plans are once again derailed when she meets her sister's fiance.

Lance was not what she expected. He's quirky, funny, and exciting, not a straight laced, white collar loser her sister usually goes for. His family isn't rich or famous, and he's not a doctor or lawyer. He's basically the opposite of everything her sister has ever wanted.

But he's perfect for Caylie.

Caylie grows closer to Lance and his family, including brother Liam. And as the wedding looms closer, Caylie uncovers secrets, lies, and hidden feelings from everyone staying at the Bauregaurd family plantation.

Caylie fears she might not leave this wedding experience as unscathed as she hoped.
